How it works

1. Upload an image with a white or very light background.
2. Adjust the tolerance until the background is gone and the subject stays intact.
3. Touch up the edge if needed and download a transparent PNG or WebP.

Limitations

• White parts of the subject that touch the background can disappear too – lower the tolerance or restore them with the Keep brush
• Paper with uneven lighting, shadows or heavy JPEG noise needs a higher tolerance and some brush work
• Off-white backgrounds with a strong color cast work better in Auto mode

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the general background remover?

Here the background color is fixed to white, so nothing has to be guessed. The tool removes white and near-white pixels that are connected to the image border; the tolerance decides how light a gray still counts as background. If your background is not white, the other modes are one click away.

Will the white parts of my logo disappear too?

Only when they touch the white background. White enclosed inside the subject, such as the inside of an O or a white label on a bottle, stays. If some white is removed that should stay, lower the tolerance or paint it back with the Keep brush.

How do I make a signature transparent for documents?

Scan or photograph the signature on white paper in good light, raise the tolerance until the paper is gone, then trim the empty margins. Save it as PNG and place it in your document or PDF editor.

Is it free?

Yes. Without an account you can process one image at a time up to 10 MB and 12 megapixels. A free account raises this to 20 MB, 16 MP and batches of 5; Pro allows 50 MB, 40 MP, batches of 50 and the HTTP API.
