Frequently asked questions
How does the tool find the text?
Inside the rectangle you draw, it looks for thin strokes with strong contrast against their surroundings – which is what letters usually look like – and marks them slightly wider to include their soft edges. Thick shapes and gentle gradients are left alone.
Can I remove text from a screenshot?
Yes. Screenshots usually have flat backgrounds, which give the cleanest results: the plain color around the text simply continues into the gap.
Does it read or store the text?
No. There is no text recognition: the tool only finds text-like strokes as pixels and never reads what they say. The image is processed in your browser and is not uploaded.
What if the result shows smudges?
Smudges appear when the letters sit on a detailed background. Undo, mark a smaller part of the text – a word or a line – fill it, and continue step by step.
