Delete pages from a PDF

Type the pages you want to remove – single numbers and ranges like 1, 3-5 – and download the PDF without them. The remaining pages are kept exactly as they were.

How it works

  1. Drop a PDF – the tool shows how many pages it has.
  2. Enter the pages to remove, e.g. 1, 3-5, 12.
  3. Download the shorter PDF.

Works well for

  • Removing a cover sheet, an empty last page or an appendix before you send a document.
  • Taking out pages with personal or internal information from a longer report.
  • Files with links, bookmarks and form fields: references to the deleted pages are detached, so nothing points to a missing page.
  • Keeping the file small: images and fonts used only by the removed pages are dropped too.

Limitations

  • Pages are chosen by number – there is no page preview. Check the numbers in your PDF viewer first.
  • Password-protected (encrypted) PDFs are refused – remove the password first.
  • At least one page must stay – a PDF cannot be emptied completely.
  • A bookmark that pointed to a deleted page keeps its title but no longer jumps anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter the pages to delete?

Use page numbers separated by commas and ranges with a hyphen, for example 1, 3-5, 12. Numbering starts at 1 with the first page of the file, which may differ from the numbers printed on the pages.

Are the deleted pages really removed from the file?

Yes. The pages are taken out of the page tree, references to them are removed and objects nothing uses any more – their text, images and fonts – are dropped when the file is saved.

Does the quality of the other pages change?

No. The remaining pages are not re-rendered: text stays text and images are not recompressed.

Is the PDF uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser and the file never leaves your device. Pro users can also delete pages through the paid HTTP API, which runs on our server.
